Second Summer School
Analysis and Applied Mathematics

ROMA, SEPTEMBER 12-16 2005

Scope of the School is to provide an overview on various techniques in modern analysis which are strictly related to important problems in applications of mathematics to physics, mechanics and optimization. The lectures are intended for PhD students and young researchers in analysis. The common link among the courses will be a 'basic' and rigorous introduction to the math subjects and a discussion of the related applications.

Lecturers and Courses

Lectures will take place at the Depertment of Mathematics of the University of Rome `La Sapienza', piazzale Aldo Moro, Rome
Room E (follow the signs)

PIERRE CARDALIAGUET (Univ. Brest) - Dislocation dynamics and perimeter estimates for solutions of geometric equations.

CAMILLO DE LELLIS (Univ. Zurich) - Integral versions of classical rigidity theorems

GERHARD HUISKEN (Univ. Tübingen and Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics, Potsdam)  - Inverse mean curvature flow and energy inequalities

CARLO SINESTRARI (Univ. Roma Tor Vergata) - Semiconcave functions, Hamilton-Jacobi equations and control problems
